After a very long wait through some wonderful volleyball played by the freshmen and junior varsity programs, the varsity team took the court (about 40 minutes later than scheduled). A large crowd was gathered at Lisle High School for the Lady Norsemen's first away match. When Madi Malone served her last ace of the match, Newark claimed victory in two quick sets, 25-12, 25-11. The match in total lasted just shy of 35 minutes in all.
Malone led the way, being named Papa's John's Player of the Game, by hitting .500 for the evening, which included 13 kills on 20 attempts. She added 3 total aces on her 5 serves while pulling up 4 digs. Mattie Chapman crushed down 4 kills, had 8 service points, and two blocks. Taylor Christian had 19 assists and 2 aces off of her team-best 12 serves. Meggie Scott led the way defensively with 7 digs. Megan Williams and KJ Friestad each had 3 kills, while Naomi Sweeney and Friestad shared a pair of assisted blocks in the second set. Cassiday Adams continue her perfection from behind the service line, now serving 13 for 13 on the year.
