The Lady Clippers of Amboy made the long journey to Newark on Monday night. The Clippers had a few highlight moments, but the Lady Norsemen force was too strong as the trio of six-footers pounded down a combined 18 kills in the quick match that continued Newark's perfect season of 12 wins and 0 losses. The final score was 25-8, 25-11 for the varsity match.
Mattie Chapman (Sr) ended the match with a team-leading 7 kills (.583) and added 8 for 9 serving, three digs, and a block. Naomi Sweeney (Sr) was everywhere defensively, leading the Norsemen with 10 digs while serving 100% from the service line tonight, sneaking in a couple of aces. Taylor Christian (Jr) finger-pushed 20 assists and had two blocks including a solo block. Madi Malone put down 6 kills, 6 digs, and added one ace toward her career count, while Megan Williams had 5 kills, 2 aces (9 for 9 serving), and a dig. Meggie Scott was also perfect from the service line, had four digs, and had her first kill of 2019. Cassiday Adams also had a solid game from the service line and as the defensive specialist.
