The Lady Norsemen are still unbeaten in the Little 10 Conference after defeating the visiting Bobcats of Somonauk in straight sets 25-6, 25-9. That moves Newark's record to 19-1 (5-0).
Madi Malone was named the Papa John's Player of the Game after hitting .818 with 9 kills. Malone was perfect from the service line, 12 for 12, dropping in 4 aces during the match. She led the team defensively as well, digging up 6 balls. Mattie Chapman hit .750 with 6 kills and 2 solo blocks. Megan Williams pounded down 7 kills while serving 100% from the line (6 for 6). Taylor Christian and Meggie Scott were both perfect from the line as well. Christian put in an ace, finger-pushed 19 assists, and had 4 digs. Scott added 5 more digs to her current school record, making her total at 1,380. Kaitlyn Hatteberg was 6 for 6 in serving, putting in 1 ace and threw down a kill on an overpass. Naomi Sweeney had 2 aces and 3 digs while Cassidy Adams had an ace and 4 digs. Newark will play tomorrow at home for their homecoming match against Plano. The JV match starts at 4:30 PM and the Varsity match is scheduled to start at 5:30 PM. The Newark High School staff will be selling food for the homecoming game, so bring some cash to buy a pork chop, porkburger, or hotdog.
