The Lady Norsemen traveled to Kirkland last night to take on the Hawks of Hiawatha. The girls are starting their 2019 volleyball campaign against Little 10 opponents. On the line for the ladies from Newark is a 9-year undefeated regular-season record which started after their conference matchup in October 2009 against Leland-Earlville Coop. After last night's victory, the Lady Norsemen won their 73 conference match in a row, beating the Hawk, 25-8, 25-11.
Mattie Chapman and KJ Friestad each with 5 kills, Lexi Long and Megan Williams with 4 kills each. Taylor Christian with 19 assists and 4 digs was our Papa John's Player of the Game, while Naomi Sweeney served up 5 aces. Meggie Scott led the team with 8 digs...she is only 9 digs away from the all-time record at Newark High School (currently held by Sam Eddy, Class of 2010). Meggie has 1233 digs in her varsity career.
